Fireworks

At circle time the children were all eager to talk about their experiences from Firework night whether that be at the park, on the bridge, in their garden or watching out of a bedroom window. This activity develops cut fine motor control and can be used to explore colour mixing. The set up is so simple and all of the children are capable and able to produce firework artwork that they will be proud of. The children really enjoyed this free activity and we have some beautiful artwork to look at.

Nursery Rhyme Week

The children have been sharing and singing all of the nursery rhymes they know.

The children have participated in a range of activities from building Humpty Dumpty's wall, making Twinkle twinkle little star’s from craft items and city out Hickory Dickory Dock clocks and mice.

Celebrating Diwali

The class have been talking about the celebration of Diwali.
Diwali is often called the 'Festival of Lights', and is celebrated by lighting lamps, and bursting crackers and fireworks. how the families celebrate. The festivities last for five days. The fourth day marks the start of the new year on the Hindu calendar. Diwali originates from India but is celebrated by people all over the world.
There have been many opportunities to explore the activities within our continuous provision linked to Diwali such as making diva lamps, creating Rangoli patterns and even creating their own mehndi patterns on paper hands.
The highlight of the week for most of the children was making a large-scale rangoli pattern on the ground made of colourful chalks.
We have had a  go at making Diya lamps out of clay and then we painted them with lovely colours and glitter. We were also very lucky to make some Diwali sweets, we all helped to make them. At snack time, we tasted them along with some samosas and onion bahjis, they were very tasty!!! We have been looking at Rangoli patterns and had a go at making our own patterns using rice and coloured sand. It was quite tricky to get the sand along  the lines, but the finished pictures looked beautiful! We have also tried some Diwali dancing!
