A message from our Head Teacher.
Welcome to Wadebridge Primary Academy! Thank you for taking the time to have a look at our website.
Wadebridge Primary is a great place to learn and a great place to be associated with. We are one of the largest primary schools in Cornwall with 16 classes of children organised in a two form entry school from Nursery through to Year 6.
There are 92 trained staff members who deliver exciting learning opportunities for children in all phases.
I joined the school in January 2012 having moved from another headship of a large ‘outstanding’ school in Cornwall. As a school we have changed a number of curricular areas to further improve our standards and I am delighted that OfSTED graded us as a ‘GOOD’ school in November 2012 on the new, more rigorous framework.
Staff work very hard to give the children here the best education we can fulfilling our motto of ‘Learn Thrive Excel.’ The virtue of having a large staff is that we can draw on a big pool of expertise and knowledge to deliver the very best in a wide range of learning contexts. This is reflected in the learning environment.
We have a well resourced and organised school. All classes have access to an additional work space for creative arts, technology and withdrawal groups. In addition to this we have a huge school hall and stage area.
At the back of this is our on-site kitchen where all our meals are cooked. We have a large two-story Library, separate ICT suite, a well equipped technology room, conference room, resource room, staff room, Teachers’ planning area and associated office space not to mention our fabulous outside areas! This is a school with space and creative opportunities to fill that space!
We are committed to developing all aspects of learning in the creative way to allow children to experience and consider art, dance, drama and digital media and learning outdoors.
We offer wrap around care with our on-site club ‘Bridge Kids.’ Here children are able to join our breakfast and after school facilities from 7.45am-6pm.
‘Friends of Wadebridge Primary’ are a well organised group of parents, grandparents and friends who help to organise additional community activities which raise money to provide some of the ‘extras’ our children enjoy including end of term treats, theatre visits, additional school trips and additional resources to use at playtimes.
I have a committed group of school governors who meet regularly, often in the daytime to see the school in action and play an active role in school life, supporting me and the staff with a varied remit of activities.
We do our very best to deliver a high quality, interesting and challenging curriculum to enable our pupils to make rapid progress. Importantly our children enjoy their time here, when the time comes for them to leave for the Secondary School, I want them to have a wealth of happy memories to draw on!
Why not make an appointment and come and have a look around…………….? I look forward to meeting you.
Mr. Adrian Massey
