Year 1 Farm Trip

17th May 2016

Year 1 visited a nearby farm this week to learn more on their topic, Birds, Bees and Butterflies. The children spent the morning pond-dipping and mini-beast searching. Some very rare species were found in the pond, including newts, scorpion fish, dragonfly larvae, stickleback fish - the list is endless!

The children showed no fear in hunting for creatures in the forest either. They finished their morning work by making mini-beast homes and roasting marshmallows on an open fire.

It didn't stop there! In the afternoon, the class got a tractor tour of the farm and watched some real live sheering - what an experience!

We would like to thank all the parent helpers, especially Jaime and Shaun Hawkey for the fantastic day they put on.
