This week, Year 5 had a super trip to ‘immerse’ themselves in their Victorian topic. Dressed in costume they toured Lanhydrock House and learnt about the differences between the rich and poor, then they had a very exciting ride on a steam train in Bodmin and dined in style in the old carriages!
This was an excellent ‘real-life’ way to learn more about the impact of the railways and the fascinating life work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They even got to experience the ‘signal box’ at Bodmin General Station!
A big thank you to the volunteer guides at Lanhydrock, the staff on the Steam Railway, our parent helpers and to Cornwall Heritage Trust, who gave a contribution towards the transport to make the trip possible. The children had a very memorable day!
