Parent Group

Friends of Wadebridge Primary Academy (FOWPA)

Who are we?

A group of parents and teachers who strive to foster a strong school community through hosting several fundraising events throughout the year. We fund raise to pay for school trips, facilities or equipment outside the normal school budget advancing the education of the pupils, helping to make Wadebridge Primary Academy such a wonderful school for our children to learn and play.

Committee Members:

Chair: Gemma Lloyd-Jones     Deputy Chair: Amanda Cooksley

Treasurer: Eimear Luxton        Deputy Treasurer: Sophie Hanton

Secretary: Alex Stone              Deputy Secretary: Jess Ball

Other committee members include Julie Berridge, Gill Bryant, Vicky Campbell, Nicky Cartwright, Lucy Jones, Wendy Pool, Trish Taylor and Ms Whitlock. We also have a great committed group of parents who take on projects large and small, all working together as a successful team. We welcome anyone interested in helping and are very open to new ideas.

What do we fund?

As a result of our hard work and the support of the Wadebridge Primary Academy Community, along with successful grant applications we raised nearly £7K in 2018/19.

This has enabled us to work with the teaching staff to provide additional items for our children.
Some items we have funded:
• Subsidising school trips
• Year 6 leavers hoodies
• Books
•Outdoor improvements such as bird boxes, benches, wooden planters, storage, mirrors, paint etc
• Children’s play equipment / toys
• Outside play equipment including: Playground floor games of the copycat and hopscotch, basketball hoops and equipment, including basketballs, football goals, chalkboards etc
None of these fantastic activities would happen without your fundraising and support so please do get involved !

Ways to help:
We always need more help, enthusiasm and exciting new ideas! We are an open committee and we welcome anyone to join us at any point in time. There are five ways you can help FOWPA:

1. Join the FOWPA team
2. Volunteer at events
3. Support the events by attending and participating
4. Volunteering to help with DIY projects
5. Match funding – do you work at a supermarket, bank, large corporate that could potentially match fund one of our fundraising events?

Please feel free to come along to our meeting that takes place in the Slades pub, the first Thursday in every month at 6.30pm. We have fun discussing new ideas and we also get to help the staff choose what to spend the money on!

Please feel free to just turn up or email us on: gemmatrudgian1982@hotmail.com.

If you don’t have time to come to meetings, but are happy to help at any events, that is great too. So, get in touch; the more the merrier!
