The children had lots of fun on the bikes this week. They are confidently riding the bikes around the bike track, knowing how to move around other children into a space and stopping using their feet.

At last, the sun has appeared! The children went out for their outdoor learning and used the Trim Trail. The children are growing in confidence and are independently using the equipment.

This week, we celebrated St Pirans Day. The children listened to sea shanties sang by the fisherman in their boats out at sea. They made their own Cornish flag, looking carefully at the pattern and colours on it.

The children also made their own pasties, they chose their filling and Miss Brown showed them how to crimp the pastry to keep it sealed.

Big Nursery have been learning about The Chinese New Year. At circle time Mrs Divall introduced the topic of the Chinese New Year and we talked about who had eaten Chinese food before either at a restaurant or from a takeaway.

The class also tried different Chinese food including noodles, egg fried rice, sweet and sour sauce and prawn crackers. The children tried really hard to use chopsticks although they found them very tricky. The food smelled amazing!! Afterwards we talked about the foods they enjoyed eating.

The children have played in The Chinese Restaurant in our role play area and carefully looked at the menu and some children took their orders. They have used real chopsticks to help pick up their pretend noodles. The children have also decorated a 2024, Year of the dragon picture, they have also cut and decorated their own Chinese lantern and dragon. We finished off our celebrations dancing with our dragons and lanterns.

Last week, the children were so excited to see snow as they arrived at Nursery. For some, this was their first experience of snow.
Here are some photo's of the children having fun catching the snow. When we went inside, the children joined in with some wake and shake songs to warm us up.

The children are learning about things that change and for the next few weeks, we are going to be focusing on how the weather changes. The children watched a PowerPoint about the weather and we discussed which weather is their favourite and why. We have a class weather chart on the wall and over the past few days the children have been changing the pictures regularly!! The children have been busy making their own weather spinner to use at home. The class have listened to weather sounds , drawn pictures of what they can hear and tried to name them. Some of them were tricky but the children listened well. The children used their fingers to paint a rainbow. They matched colour squares to a rainbow sheet. The children talked about different weather and how it made them feel.

Putting out the Fire!

In Little Nursery, we have been concentrating on our topic “people who help us.”
The children enjoyed putting out the fire using spray bottles.
We spoke about the dangers of fires and how firefighters help us in many ways.

Letters to Santa

We have had an exciting couple of days at Nursery, as we have been writing our very own letters to Father Christmas!! We each wrote a letter telling Father Christmas what we would like for Christmas.
The children then all put their letters into a big envelope and Mrs O'Dwyer wrote Father Christmas’s address on the front. Harley said that we needed a stamp, so he put the stamp on. We then all put our coats on and went on an adventure out of Nursery to find the post box.
The children walked beautifully and sensibly in their pairs, out of school and around the corner. We found the post box just outside of the school grounds. We can’t wait to see if Father Christmas writes back!!
These are some of the things the children said as we wrote our letters to Father Christmas.

 Remembrance Day

We showed the children a PowerPoint about Remembrance day. We talked all about what this day means and how we wear a poppy to remember those who fought for our country and helped to keep us safe. The children then took part in different activities, to colour, glue and stick and draw poppies trying to use the correct colours.
