SEND

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Wadebridge Primary Academy is a fully inclusive school; we pride ourselves on the support we offer to all children regardless of their needs or ability.  We strive to ensure that all children are treated equally and are supported to make the best possible progress within an inclusive environment.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a term used to describe needs of an individual which are over and above those which may be met within the context of regular classroom practice and quality first teaching.  We follow the SEN Code of Practice 2015, which categorises needs into four main areas:

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Sensory and Physical
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health
Individual needs may be short-term or last throughout a child's educational career.  They may be identified prior to a child entering school or at any point in their education.  Our SEN Policy details how individual needs are identified and acted upon using the graduated approach and our School Offer.

If your child is identified as having SEND, they will be added to the school's SEN Record of Need and will access provision as detailed in our School Offer.  More details can be found within the SEND Policy.

Mrs Hill is our SENCo who is a Senior member of staff responsible for the co-ordination of SEND throughout the school.  If you have any questions or would like to find out more information, please contact Mrs Hill on 01208 814560 or by emailing: sjhill@wadebridgeprimary.co.uk.
